Middlesex County officials turned to Direct Install incentives from the New Jersey Clean Energy Program and the US DOE State Energy Program to finance new, energy-efficient equipment for its Agriculture Extension building. Tri-State Light and Energy performed an assessment of the building which resulted in the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air condition system, as well as new lighting and sensors, all for only 30% of the cost. Since the installation, the building's utility bill has been cut in half, which helps Middlesex County save money as well as benefit the environment.
